Dear all,

is it possible, to access my contacts (and the adresses) in the search of
Osmand?
Or some easy workoround? Have a lot of business meetings, and it would make
my life a lot easier.

So far, coud not find it. Wouldn't that be a great feature?

I'm sure many people are reluctant to put addresses to contacts in their
phone, that is easy to get lost/stolen (remotely stolen via internet).

Also, another group of people would NOT give OsmAnd the permission to
access their contacts.
Mind that even people NOT using this feature would need to give OsmAnd this
permission as that is the Android way.
Sure, this may have changed with Marshmallow 6.0 permission system, but it
does not yet have relevant marketshare.

I think this was already discussed in the past in the issue tracking system
and was not deemed a good idea.

Yes, it can be rethought once Android 6+ becomes relevant.

The issue with permissions is usually solved via plugins. The app does
not have a permission, but user can install a simple plugin (another
app) which does nothing except responding to the main app and providing
data.

The point is not saving addresses, but that OSMAnd does
a horrible job IMHO with parsing random addresses from intents.
E.g., when I have an address in the Calendar meeting, I would
like OSMAnd to show me the place. In 9 out of 10 cases, I have
search for the address by hand.

You can always put your business adresses as favourites into OsmAnd at your
discretion, without forcing others to open permission holes.

There is a work around that you can use: Install either AddressToGPS [1] or
Acastus [2].

With those you click on the the directions icon on the individual's address
book entry and they will look up the address and then create a GPS
coordinate intent which you can then have OsmAnd (or Maps.me) handle.
AddressToGPS uses Google for the address lookup. Acastus uses Pelias [3]
for its backend, not sure which instance of Pelias it uses though.

It really pains me that neither OsmAnd nor Maps.me properly handle a US
address formatted intent from the stock AOSP contacts app and that another
"glue app" must be used between the two. But with either of these apps (and
there may be more) a work around exists as long as you have a data
connection.

Unfortunately, I usually run with mobile data turned off so it means I have
to look up and bookmark all the places/people I intend to visit while I am
at a place with WiFi/WLAN.

For the moment, my preferred combination is using Acastus for the lookup
and Maps.me for the navigation. But I still have AddressToGPS and Osmand
installed and use them occasionally.
