Discussion:
Issues with large GPX routes?

Hi,
first, I am very new here, and hopefully this is the correct place to
post? I just started to try OSMAnd as I would like to replace me dedicated
motorcycle/car system in the future. I see Android being powerful enough
that there should be a good solution for GPS navigation software. I am not
disappointed and have found a lot of different system. I am interested in
OSMAnd as it seems there is more chance of it maturing to a great system.

The way my workflow is, I create a GPX file on Garmin Basecamp and export
it. I import to OSMAnd. I have had OSM crash when I try to tell it to
Navigate my GOX file. There maybe about 20-20 waypoints and about 400-600km
on the route. (Canada/NY/PA) .

Some questions:

1) Is there an indication on how long the calculation is taking for the GPX
file after its loaded and you are calculating directions?

2) Is there a limit on how big theGPX file can be? In points or distance?

thanks

There are could be two problems for your crashes.

1. Garmin have a own GPX-File-Format, this is different to the normal
GPX-File.
2. I am not sure, the gpx file must be a pure gpx-track or a a pure
gpx-route. our file seem to be a mix.

I have used a track, which was 2000 km long.

Thanks for the reply. I will try "cleaning" the GPX file.
